Things to do in Koh Lanta

Tour around the island by scooter

Koh Lanta is quite a large island (30 km long and 6 km wide) so having your own transport makes it easy to explore. It is fun to drive around enjoying the views and stopping off at cute cafes or beautiful beaches.

If you don’t want to hire a motorbike, you could rent a bicycle (but be prepared for the heat and big hills in the south) or take a local taxi—a tuk-tuk with a sidecar attached to a motorbike (but this will be more expensive).

If you rent a motorbike make sure your travel insurance covers you as accidents do happen. We recommend World Nomads (worldwide).

Take a Cooking Class

It’s a great opportunity to spend the day eating (a lot!) and learn more about Thai food. Time For Lime is recommended on the island.

Get a massage

We are massage fans so we want to try the famous Thai oil massage. We recommend Scorpion massage in the main village Saladan. They also have the fattest cat I have seen in my life named Wen.

The “Monkey on Island” smoothies is a must try. Nice and cozy place for dinner with delicious food. Mainly Asian cuisine, but also some pasta and western dishes. If you ever had Thai food before and survived, make sure to tell them to make it super spicy.

Very nice location and it’s lovely during the sunset. We came in the afternoon after Songkran festival and enjoyed the caramelised banana and whipped cream crepes.

A cozy place just by the road with the friendly staff. We tried the massaman curry and red curry stir-fried (Thai spicy). Also, we ordered this banana chocolate cheesecake turned up to be sushi cake 😛
