8 Restaurants you should try in Manila

1. KUYA J

Location: SM Jazz Mall, Nicanor Garcia, Makati, Metro Manila

I recommend trying the following dishes: Kuya J Crispy Pata (Deep fried pork), Pochero Bulalo Tagalog (Beef Shank Stew), Lumpia Frito (Spring Roll), Sizzling Sisig with egg (Minced pork, onion and chicken liver)

2. Jollibee

Location: Almost everywhere

The food was cheap and came out quite fast! Try their Filipino-style spaghetti as well as the infamous “ChickenJoy”. The chicken was spiced really well and the little Shanghai rolls were so tasty! Definitely get a peach mango pie as well.

3. LAO BEI JING MAKATI

There’s definitely value for your money when you eat here. We ordered the Kuchay Dumplings which were really good and served really fast. The Xiao Long Bao was also good, but not very soupy like how you would expect your usual Xiao Long Bao would be.  They offer a variety of noodles and rice toppings as well. The area is relatively small and not for a huge crowd.

4. Manam

Location: 4th Avenue, Taguig, Metro Manila

Truly comfort Filipino food. The menu is difficult to choose from because everything looks so good. Fresh ingredients (pako salad always crisp and perfect). This place is far beyond your typical Filipino restaurant, the fusion section is also very interesting – there are many more dishes I’d like to try. They don’t take reservations and will only seat you when the party is complete.

5. Gerry’s

Location: Greenbelt 3, 3rd Level, Esperanza St, Makati, Metro Manila

Morning glory and Crispy Pata

The food was nice, service a bit long. The place is so popular that’s why there’s queue on dinner time. The sisig was wow !! The crispy pata or pork knuckle was superb !!! Highly recommended!

6. Ippudo

Location: Uptown Mall – BGC Mall

I was craving Japanese ramen so we visit this place, just to take a break from Filipino food for 1 day. We ordered Shiromaru – is the classic flavor for those who are first-timers or those what want to be safe, just order the “shiromaru motoaji” with medium firmness. The second is Akamaru – similar to shiromaru but with garlic oil and spicy flavor. The spicy flavor is tolerable! This is perfect for me.

7. Nord’s Bread Hub

Seven heaven layers chocolate cake

Their souffle pancake is possibly one of the best pancakes I have ever tasted. It’s airy and light, with the right amount of sweetness. The chocolate cake is DELICIOUS! very chocolaty and rich. Add the relaxing ambiance, very good service and you have a go-to place for Sunday brunch.
